Searchlight was born in 1975, 35 years ago, as an extension of a radio and concert ministry. In its early days, Searchlight was dominantly a music company. Today our major focus is on books and Bibles.
Searchlight currently operates two stores: in Brockville, Ontario at 15 Central Avenue East (613 345 2122) and Cobourg, Ontario at 884 Division Street (905 372 5519) Both stores are open Monday-Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM and Saturday from 10 to 4; with longer hours in December. Each is both a full-service bookstore and also a recognized book outlet store.
Searchlight's wholesale division provides services to other stores, with a specialty in bargain books, as well as the Down Gilead Lane audio CDs for kids, Jungle Jam and Friends CDs (eastern Canada only), LifeLine Radio Comedy CDs, Dear Cards, and Tommy Toombs DVD. Other lines pending.
Searchlight's own stores have a heavy focus on quality bargain books including publisher overstocks as well as discontinued titles. Because our stores are small, we choose the cream of the crop among available remainder and overstock books. Right now, over 80% of our book intake is quality bargain books selected from seven book overstock suppliers.
Searchlight also provides consulting services to individuals seeking to establish a Christian bookstore .
Searchlight stores carry things you don't find in other stores: Teaching DVDs by Joe Amaral explaining the messianic significance of the new testament and by U.S. Peoples Church pastor Charles Price; canvas laser art prints by Verseries; mountain gemstone cross pendants; Dear Cards greeting cards; audio teachings on CD by Rob Bell; teaching DVDs by Joyce Meyer and many other items too numerous to list.
Searchlight also is able to provide product searches on e-mail and does price matching to other internet sites for people in our trading area -- all the convenience of the internet but with personal service and attention.
